Install Simcity 2000 On Windows 7
I thought that this might be worth noting.
I have tried Sim City 2000 Special Edition (released around 1995) in Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
It ran perfectly even without compatibility mode on. The only problem I had was to turn 256-color compatibility on because the animations do not work in an RGB mode. Has to be palatalized. This was a 'problem' for all computers since its release though. Actually, because of the compatibility mode provided by newer versions of Windows, this game can be easier to start up in Windows 7 than it was in even Windows 95 as you can tell it to go to 256 colors upon launching. The DOS version of it will not work in x64 Windows 7, but I suspect that it might in the 32-bit.

How were you able to get this to work under Windows 7? I've checked online and done numerous things including: - Changing the attributes for the folder - Copying/Installing the game to a root folder (e.g. C: simcity2k) - Running in Compatibility Mode - Running the Game as Administrator - Going thru a good part of the Application Compatibility Toolkit with various settings and yet the game closes itself when I select the options to load or save a file.

Interestingly enough, Simcity Classic Deluxe (which is also a 32-bit windows application) does the exact same thing. Whenever I try to open or save a city I'm just thrown back to the desktop. Similar help and support threads Thread Forum I've been trying to run SimCity 3000 on my Windows 7 PC, which is running Home Premium 32-bit. The game itself is recommended for Windows 95/98/XP so is rather old now, but the game used to run fine on my current PC, until one day when I clicked the icon and nothing happened, it would normally take. Gaming Another game that will play but will not install due to a 16-bit installer. Unfortunately, manual install won't work with this game as the game requires registry entries. I found a torrent file for the game that had been specifically hacked to work on 64-bit Windows, which was my only install.
